medPJ+ - Medical practical year in a family practice in southern Lower Saxony

With the Master Plan for Medical Studies 2020, the focus is shifting to family physicians as an academic field of training and the qualification of teaching physicians. With the medPJ+ project, 40 rural practices in southern Lower Saxony are to be recruited as teaching practices and support offers from regional stakeholders are to be included (districts of Holzminden, Northeim, Göttingen and Goslar).

Project Goals

  • Recording and documentation of successful and inhibiting factors for the practical year of medical students in a family practice in rural areas of southern Lower Saxony,
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of a three-part continuing education program for family physicians who want to qualify for the PJ teaching practice,
  • result-related feedback reports and impulses for the regional actors, e.g. mayors, representatives of the counties and the health regions,
  • Development of a digital platform on which family doctor's practices present themselves with their teaching offers and regions with their support possibilities for students.

The project is funded for the period from 27.11.2018 to 31.12.2019 by the Offices for Regional Development Braunschweig and Leine-Weser and by the counties of Göttingen, Goslar, Holzminden and Northeim.

On November 9, 2019, the medPJ+ project received the Tassilo Tröscher Award.
